I've created a little workspace in my front room. I've had a desk and chair for a few weeks. Tonight I put up 3 shelves about the desk (much sweating and swearing) and filled them with all my work/favorite things. There are folders of kids books, and paperwork on the top shelf. Some vintage kids books and my laptops on the top of the middle shelf. On the bottom of the middle shelf is an Astro Boy toy. The bottom shelf is full of pot of pens and pencils, my Jacobs ladder, a corkscrew and some headphones. The desk is now clear, and I have put the blue cutting mat that Fylnn likes to sit on next to the keyboard. He is sat on it purring away. I think he likes it when I get organized and make a little place for him, so he can sit near me and enjoy a little stroke every now and again………….since typing that he has bitten me and ran off. Bastard cat.

I love the sound of your life , Toby. Your arrangement of your workspace sounds great. I have a lot of books from my childhood, but my partner doesn't like them on show. They are not serious enough or some such thing.

Oh thanks, that is so sweet, but rest assured my life is dreadfully dull 99% of the time!
I've worked for Children's publishers for the last 12 years, so I feel it my duty to have some books on display. It's only thanks to publishing that I have become accustomed to my luxurious lifestyle (living 4 stories above a kebab shop on Murder Mile.........)

Ha ! I am sure your life is not dull. Maybe I will get a job in children's publishing ( or pretend to my partner I am working voluntarily for one ) so that I can get my Noel Streatfields and Elizabeth Enrights out.
When I was 14, I had a penpal I got out of Smash Hits, who was my penpal for four years, but I also had another penpal( not from Smash Hits this time but some penpal agency who chose her for me ) for two weeks, who lived on Prince Edward Island in Canada. She wrote to me twice , then never again. Anyway, she was in Edinburgh two weeks ago and put a note through my brother's door...who knows how she knew he was my brother or where he lived...saying she is sending me an "Anne of Green Gables" doll, because she remembers I loved the book and it is the centenary of its publication. I find the whole thing odd. But, if she sends it, I am sitting it here on the desk, no matter what anyone says !
